Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts

Chelsea is currently a certified E-RYT and RCYT who completed her initial 200-hour yoga teachers’ training at Kashi Atlanta Urban Ashram under the guidance of her beloved teachers Swami Jaya Devi and Ma Jaya in 2007. Chelsea’s teaching style is grounded firmly in an exploration of strength and freedom through a dialogue of awareness within the body. Chelsea’s yoga practice extends beyond the asana through her strength of cultivating community dialogue through yoga.

Chelsea Jackson Roberts, PhD., E-RYT has been integrating yoga into her personal and professional life since she was an elementary school teacher. After leaving the classroom, Chelsea decided to focus more on the ways in which yoga can be used to cultivate critical inner literacy within her students.

Chelsea’s doctoral work at Emory University, which focused on language, literacy, and culture, has been integrated into the work she does within underserved communities. Chelsea’s commitment to the practice of yoga and to marginalized communities is sustained by the work of Red Clay Yoga, Inc.

In 2013, Chelsea founded Yoga, Literature, and Art Camp for Teen Girls at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. In 2015, Chelsea graced the June cover of Yoga Journal and shared more about her unique community work through yoga and the ways in which she shares this work through trainings with yoga teachers and educators.
